Here are the most frequently asked questions and house rules
“I’m new to pilates, can I join your classes?”
Absolutely. Most of my classes are for all levels. If you are more experienced mover, I can easily make the exercises more challenging. If you are new to pilates, I find that slowing down help. I personally LOVE beginner classes. My body has lot of injuries on the abdominal area ( full length diastasis, epigastric hernia, horse kicked me on the pelvis and 2 x c-sections) so I love moving slow. I am also in the process filming beginner exercises, which teaches you the basics. You can also do a 1:1 session where we can address your specific issues and questions.
“If I fancy a last minute class, how can I find out if there is space?”
Keep an eye on the booking system but I will also put out any last minute available classes on instagram stories so it is worth following me on instagram (m_methoduk)
“What should I wear?”
You do not need to be kitted out with the latest Sweaty Betty or Lululemon. Ideally wear something more close- fitting, which helps me to keep an eye of your form and allows better freedom of movement. rLoose fitting clothes makes it more hard. Ideally you should wear grippy socks but I have non slip mats that I can give you when needed.
No uncovered zips, buttons, or other items that may scratch, tear, or otherwise damage the apparatus.
No jewellery is allowed for apparatus classes as it may damage or get caught in springs and straps, causing injury. For the same reasons, please tie your long hair up for reformer classes.
Please avoid strong perfumes or colognes. Please no lotion on hands or exposed skin, as this presents a slip and fall potential in many exercises, especially on the apparatus, and can damage the equipment.
“What is your cancellations policy?”
I have a 24 hours’ prior notice for 1:1 or 2:1 sessions. Obviously I understand that something life gets a way or you get sick so please get in touch with me as soon as you know you are unable to come. For no show ups, full fee will be charged.
I require a 12 hours’ prior notice for all group classes. Any class/appointment missed, late canceled, or changed without proper notice will result in a full fee being charged.
Sometimes life gets in the way at my end, which means I might have to cancel a class / classes. I will do my best to cancel within 24 hour time frame.
If you are unable to come to your group class, please make sure to cancel (even if it’s a late cancellation), as a courtesy to open space for other students. Please remember we only have 4 spots in our group classes.
“Anything else I need to know before joining a class”
Please do not earlier than 5 minutes before the class. My studio is small so I do not have a waiting area. Keep your belongings to a minimum for a same reasons.
Shoes must be removed before class. Please leave wellies and muddy shoes outside the studio.
Please turn off all your electronic devices upon entering the studio, unless by arrangement.
Clean and replace all equipment you have used after your session as a courtesy to the next client.
Please use apparatus, any other equipment, and accessories, as well as all studio facilities, with respect and care.
Clients and guests accept responsibility for all property damage they may cause by not following these rules, except that due to ordinary wear and usage.
“I have injuries and chronic health issues, can I join your classes"?”
You would need to do a 1:1 session before joining my classes. In most instances after a 1:1 session, you will be free to join my classes. Sometimes I will recommend a set of 1:1 sessions. Any injuries and chronic health issues require a more specific approach and I also prefer to get to know you better and find out how I can support you in my classes. Sometimes it is also better to join my regular classes where we do more movement explorations. These classes are fully booked but you can always join a waiting list.
“What is your terms ands conditions for the class packs?”
3 class pack is valid for 30 days form the date of purchase. No refunds if partly used.
5 class pack is valid for 2 months form the date of purchase. No refunds if partly used.
10 class pack is valid for 4 months from the date of purchase. No refunds if partly used
“I can see you also offer regular classes. What is the difference between regular classes and PAYG drop-in classes”
I have been teaching regular group classes for a long time.
Regular class means that you will sign up for a full term and pay fees in advance.
If you miss a class, I will do my best to fit you with another group within that term so you do not lose out.
Regular classes offer more support and you will also be working. out with the same friendly faces every week. I love building a community and I strongly feel that my regular classes will offer that and more support.
Regular classes will also work a bit cheaper £18 a class.
All my regular classes are currently full but you can always join a waiting list. You are also required to do a 1:1 session before joining. Doing a 1:1 session will not guarantee that I can let you join a regular class. Sometimes more 1:1 sessions are needed.
If you join a regular class, you are also required to let me know asap if you cannot join your class. That way your spot can be passed on to someone else who needs catching up.
Below is a our regular group schedule
“What other services you are offering”
I have a deep interest on trauma, chronic health issues, ME, fibromyalgia, ANS dysfunctions such as dysautonomia and chronic pain. Also how neurodiversity such as ADHD, dyspraxia and autism affects our health, movement patterns, connections to our own bodies and behaviour.
My own health issues and ADHD diagnoses at later age has had a huge i’m pact on the trainings that I have undertaken. I literally had to become my own therapist when I could not find help.
You can find out all the trainings that I have done from here.
The main therapies I offer are:
-Internal Family systems Therapy, where I blend Brainspotting, Havening, Polyvagal theory in my work.
-Cranial sacral Therapy
-Neurodevelopmental therapy ( blend of Masgutova, RMT and functional neurology)
I also do bodywork which is a blend of fascia work, cranial sacral therapy and deep massage. Over the years I have developed my own technique which blends these approaches for a deep bodily experience.
